Lets Go Crazy with Nina Ty
This week on the show we have the very lovely and talented Nina Ty. She stopped by to do a little catching up and talk a little about her dad. The show opens with a song she wrote called Liquor and Pills. We talk a little about the passing of #Prince. We discuss the question Joshua Reed from the Confounded posted on Facebook, Is Prince the American version of Bowie? We also discuss The Fresh Prince and turning Japanese. Nina is from New Orleans and after making her way here she went back home for a bit but she is back now. So we discuss what she has been up to and her future plans. The middle track we play is from an outfit her dad fronted in the late 70's called One Nation. This track is funky psychedelic and its called Never Put You Down. We talk about Nina's dads influence on her and her own musical path and inspirations. Her last track is called Backwards and it sparks an interesting conversation on race relations, community policing, the progression and regression of civil rights and liberties. Its a very fun and interesting time we had with Nina. She is very easy to get a long with, has great style and a beautiful voice. I hope you enjoy this one. Check out our podcasting friends
