Fishin Drinkin Campin Cursin with your host Jeffrey Lord (funkytownpodcast) Dustin Schneider (Jerry Jonestown Massacre) and Susie Ramone (she plays for both teams at times but we claim her at FTP) with special guest Joe Tacke, Zachary Zanetich, Rebekah Elizabeth, John Barry (bigfoot), Bob Howington (Zach S), Ryan Elmore, Chris Lundy (Marlin), Lil' Marlin, Brandon Brauer (Johnny Trashpockets), Trucker Jon Simpson, Janet Simpson and Chea Cuevas
Dustin had this idea to do a podcast camp out. 4 years went by and then Susie made it happen. The weekend was fun and needed. We recorded Friday night and again Sunday morning. This is the result. It really is two different episodes in one but you get it all. So this is what happens when you combine the Funkytownpodcast and the Jerry Jonestown Massacre in Lake Mineral Wells State Park in Texas for 3 days and 2 nights. #keeplisteningneverstop #suckitstubbs #fishytownpodcamp2018 #TexasStateParks #LakeMineralWells #funkytownpodcast #jjtm

Like a Girl

Wednesday Oct 24, 2018
This is a very special Funkytownpodcast. Jeffrey Lord, Joe Tacke, and Zachary Zanetich stepped away and let me, Susie, have the show with her guests, Mandy Hand and Rachel Gollay.
The first song is Same People by Mandy, which is going to be on the new Big Heaven album coming out next year. I love this song and have heard Mandy sing it solo many times. It talks about emotional labor which is just one of the subjects that we touch on during our time together. We also talk about being a woman in the Fort Worth Music scene. Being a wife, mother, daughter. Our safety as women, the #metoo movement, why we don't report, who owns our bodies, and our hope for the future generation. We hope that our podcast this week will open up discussion on the topics you hear.
The last song is Receptionist 2, paired down version of Receptionist from Gollay. It is on topic and beautiful.

Chillamundo in "The Void and Fried Chicken"
Tuesday Oct 09, 2018
Tuesday Oct 09, 2018
"So, what is a Chillamundo? Is it a chilled out armadillo? Is it a burrito with ice cream on top? Maybe it’s the best band that you’ve never heard of from Fort Worth, Texas. Maybe it’s Donkey Kong’s cousin. Maybe it’s the sound giant rocks and engine blocks make when you throw them into a swimming pool.
Today Chillamundo consists of Denver “Slab” Williams (NOT the famous actor “Denver Williams” of Ray Donovan and Arlington Road fame), Neal “Fuzz Face” McAlister (probably an alien life form from Sirius B), Caleb “Stanislam” Stanislaw (The Hendersons, Deep Sleepers), and super handsome Nick “Nicholas Titticles” Tittle (Arenda Light, Vodeo).
Chillamundo represents the collected, focused musical efforts of four worthy Fort Worthians. Founded in the year of our Lord 2016 anno domini by interstellar expressionist Denver Williams (Deep Sleepers, Vincent Neil Emerson’s, Chingalotus, Dope Hammer, Mega Hoof), Chillamundo exists to press against the feeble boundaries of modern rock / pop / musical noise. If one was to consider Chillamundo as a response to, well, the crap that you hear when you turn on the radio, then one would be able to understand 1) our cultural need for music that doesn’t suck (i.e. Chillamundo and Journey) and 2) our collective desire for music that pushes said boundaries and crushes the rules." - Caleb Stanislaw
"This week's episode of funkytownpodcast is bananas." - Joe Tacke

Joseph Wayne Miller has a new album and I LOVE IT! (Tumbleweed)
Tuesday Oct 02, 2018
Tuesday Oct 02, 2018
Joseph Wayne Miller has a new album called Tumbleweed and its pretty dadgum great. I heard the album several weeks ago and couldn't wait for Joseph to come on. Some of the reviews label the album as country, folk and psychedelic pop. After listening several times I figure that is as good of a description as any. The songs are solid. Written very well to the core. With an acoustic guitar and drummer/audio engineer (Peter Wierenga) they headed to Dripping Springs Tx to make a record with hitmaker Taylor Tatsch. Today we have Joseph and Peter in studio along with Joe Tacke and Zachary Zanetich. We talk about the new record a lot as well as his video Spacey. If you haven't seen it, please do, it's great! The first song you hear on the show is Spacey. We talk some song writing, soundcloud rappers, and JWM alter ego Braden Bradley and his YouTube hit Summertime. JWM is also married to a Canadian who is from Russia. So naturally we talk about Russian Christmas and how they celebrate. Sister Cities to Sister Podcast. Where is our sister podcast and what does it look like? The middle track is No More Magic. Another great song with my fantastic interpretation! We have a new email intro song, an email from the Coolest Lady in Funkytown, 80 movies and finally Zach Libs. In the back half we discover that there is an actor with the same name as JWM who has passed away. There are some video tributes to the actor online but look and see whose photo was used. Also what is a Sloppy Jeff? You can see Joseph Wayne Miller this Friday October 5th at Dreamy Life Happy Hour at the Fairmount Library. You can find his music anywhere you find music. Itunes, Spotify and of course https://jeauxmiller.bandcamp.com/album/tumbleweed We close the show out with "Can't Tell" Seriously grab this album. It's so good.

The stars at night are big and bright but they don't know sh*t about Jesse Gage
Tuesday Sep 25, 2018
Tuesday Sep 25, 2018
Jesse Gage is the guest this week. The day after his Ep Release show at Main At South Side he decided to hang with me and Joe Tacke and talk about the show, as well as his brand new Ep "5pm on Anna St" https://jessegage.bandcamp.com/album/5-pm-on-anna-st The show opens like the Ep with track 1 "Jelly" We talk about the show and the ep for the first bit and then we change topics. Does the Fort Worth music scene need some critical voices? Is there any competition or influence to do better? The middle track is "Weather" and with no Zach this week that means no Zach libs. We do have emails! We got an email from Heaven. Big Heaven. Check them out this weekend. 2 shows!! We also get an email from Marlin Von Bungy and that sends us into 70's movie talk which sends down a wormhole of American and World history. The last track is "Tired of Myself" Find out if Jesse is indeed tired of himself. Check out the Ep. It's really good. Also if you can, see Jesse live. Totally worth your time!

This weeks guest is Kevin Aldridge. He just came on to hang out with us. He missed us! The first track is off the new War Party record called Sweetest Intentions. We catch up with Kevin. There are a couple of big shows at MASS this weekend. Friday its Neptune Locals, Mean Motor Scooter and Sally Majestic. Then on Saturday its a show I have been so looking forward to. Garage Barrage, Juma Spears, Henry the Archer and the Me-Thinks! Kevin plans events at MASS and is responsibe for Beers for Beto. Ok so the meat of the show is from an article in Fort Worth Magazine titled 40 things every Forth Worthian must do. We go through the list and see how many things we've done, like to do or WTF? The middle track is by Daniel Markham called Favorite Band from the Violitionist Sessions. (For more info on the Violitionist Sessions check out this weeks episode of the Jerry Jonestown Massacre) The second half of the show we finish our bucket list, play a new Zach Libs theme song from Matt Thomas aka Robotuner aka Redpants and remember Burt Reynolds. Also what if we remade Smokey and the Bandit using only local musicians. Who would be cast as who? I will say this. I made a mistake casting Jerry Reed. The person I suggested would be great. I stand by that but the perfect person to play Cletus "Snowman" Snow has to be Chea Cuevas. I mean he is a big rig driver in real life with his good puppy dog. So Ignore who I say and put Chea in his place. Who shall be cast as the Bandit, Frog, Big and Little Enis, Sheriff Buford T Justice and Junior? Listen to find out!! Last track is an amazing song. As we get older and reflect and get nostalgic, let us listen to Jacob Furr. "Life comes at you Fast." As always Keep Listening Never Stop #suckitstubbs
