The Best of ... Jessi Foster
Tuesday Sep 04, 2018
Tuesday Sep 04, 2018
This week we find ourselves (Zachary Zanetich and I) at the Tin Panther to hang out with Jessi Foster from the Fort Worth Weekly and Babes in Boyland. I’ll admit up front this one got away from us. Jessi is very easy to talk to and is an endless vessel when it comes to Fort Worth stories and knowledge. The opening song this week is by old local favorites the Hannah Barbarians with “Midnight”. We start the convo off with some vacay chatter from J Fo. ( Come on! That's a great sentence ) Jessi Foster works at the Fort Worth Weekly as sales but a lot of you may know her as the lady that wants you to RSVP for the Weekly Awards. Hee Hee. So we talk about the Weekly, her role there and the best of, which voting is getting ready to close. We spend time with some of the ins and outs of the best of issue, the voting, the categories and such. We also get into some of the award ceremony and voting. We also talk about service industry jobs, Susie Ramon’s Ketchup, her (Jessi’s) appearance on JJTM, Azle Tx, the Barbershop and Chea’s birthday at the Grotto (RIP Grotto). That's just the first half. The middle song is sung by Jessi with Matthew Broyles on guitar. It’s a Huffer cover “Never Know”. After the break we talk about the last Huffer show and what Jessi was doing while history was being made at MASS. Speaking of Main at South Side, October 27th is Masquerade. What is Masquerade? Listen to find out. Vote Stacie Hammonds! Garage Barrage’s first show! Quit smoking! Drink Jarritos! Heckle without hate! Arts Goggle. Alex and Mountain of Smoke! Post Malone and SoundCloud Rappers. These are some of the things you will hear us discuss. It's a fun episode and I found Jessi to be greatness. It is good to sit and chat with people about this town and what we love and hate about it. Mostly Love! The closing track is by Mountain of Smoke “Wise Owl” https://www.fwweekly.com/best-of-ballot-2018/

Daniel Wright ( W Durable Goods)
Wednesday Aug 29, 2018
Wednesday Aug 29, 2018
When you walk into W Durable Goods it is almost like walking back in time. Not only the decor but the vibe. Daniel Wright is the owner and drives a truck that says No Hurry on the back of it. He takes that attitude into the shop with him. No hustle and bustle or rush. Just a super nice guy bringing you honest goods that last. Some are hand made and some are rare jewels you cant find anywhere else. The show kicks off with Vodeo's single You're Making Me Nervous then a small car trip to the shop. I found a YouTube ad and it gives a brief intro into Daniel and W Durable Goods and then we chat for an hour with a song by Simon Flory (I Need to Work On My Songs) in the middle and The Cutthroat Finches (Ideology Ends) at the end. Some of the things we hit on were how he got into making things, the buildings history ( OB Macaroni building), the glory days of Fort Worth 1930s-50s, faux buildings, Fort Worth as a child, Tandy Center subway rides to the ice rink, creating a business, the hustle and grind, the love of vingage, local music, venues, sofar and so much more. I had such a good time getting to know Daniel. I can relate to his spirit and his love of the old and his love of Fort Worth. There is lots of Fort Worth love in this episode. If you are looking for something cool there is tons of it in his shop. He also has lots of useful items and a lot of hand made goods. I highly suggest you check out his shop. Tell him we sent you.

Ansley
Tuesday Aug 07, 2018
Tuesday Aug 07, 2018
Ansley Dougherty is a local Fort Worth Singer Songwriter. She has a new album out called Rituals. She also is the front woman for Panic Volcanic, teaches at school of rock and host a local monthly radio show. In other words Ansley is Amazing and I couldn't be more happy to have her on this week to talk about her new album and release show. The opening track is Lucky Smoke. There is also a great video for the song you should check out. Joe Tacke is back from his west coast tour with Mean Motor Scooter and we talk a little Jello. We take a walk down memory lane to the Cellar where I first saw Animal Spirit and Panic Volcanic play. Remember Frisky Volcanic? Did you know that Ansley studied economics? How is it being a part of Hand Drawn Records and how was the record plant tour? Big props to all the players on this record. This sound is fantastic. Big shout out to Taylor Tatsch out in Dripping Springs who is making really great records out there. The middle song is Lighthouse. This song has a cool perspective and I think you will enjoy it. The second half we have a little fun with Zach Libs, we play would you rather (blind or deaf), regional dialects, pets, and we end with November Fest talk. This event is incredible and if you don't know about it, you need to so tune in. The last song is my favorite of the album. It's called Come Alive. Its amazing and has a good story. I think you will enjoy this episode. We had so much fun making it. Ansley is one of the coolest people in town. I am super proud to call her a friend and I am so proud she represents our fair city.

Richard Phillip and Jeff talk about God stuff
Tuesday Jul 31, 2018
Tuesday Jul 31, 2018
Richard Phillip Hennessy is a singer/songwriter/guitarist and sometimes synth in Henry the Archer. (I hear he even blows a mean trumpet.) Recently I heard an interview with Richard on Advert your Eyes podcast. In this podcast he briefly mentions that he was raised in church by an evangelical father. This is someting we have in common so I reached out to Richard and asked if we could do a podcast were we talk about our religious upbringing and God stuff. You now, a Godcast. Ha ha. Sorry. Had to. So that is what we did. After "A Lonely Christmas" we talk about Christmas music and that leads us right into Christianity. So we talk a about growing up "christian." If you are looking to be offended then you're looking at the wrong show. This is just an honest discussion on how we felt as kids and how we feel as adults. It is about our relationship with our Heavenly Father and our Earthly Father. I had no idea that Richard and I had so much in common and also how different we both had it. Its not a light conversation but it is an honest one. It is something I truly love to explore. I am always curious about peoples relationship with God, but I strongly believe that your relationship with God is a personal one, so I try not to pry to much. When I have the oppertunity to share with others and hear about others experiences I jump on it. So if you are curious to what kind of chruches Richard went to as a kid, what his relatioonship was with his father, how the spirit helps him or connects him, or how he feels about all of this now being a parent of two beautiful girls then you will love this show. If you are looking to be offeded then this isn't the show for you. Ha ha. I absolutely love Richard and I am so glad we got to have this conversation. Believe it or not it did me a lot of good. The closing song is I Love the Way. Tonight Tuesday July 31st 2018 You can see Henry the Archer at MASS. Come out. Lets have church.

Brian Breckenridge

Tuesday Jul 24, 2018
Brian Breckenridge is a local comic and also books comedy shows at Main at South Side. It was really great to have him on to talk local comedy. The show starts with some stand up from Brian then we find out about tattoos, My Little Pony (Bronys) and if Trump is good or bad for comedy. Where do jokes come from? How to grow a local scene, comedy venues, local comics and Fort Worth Headliners are some other topics we get into before playing our second track. The second track is the brand new song Lucky Smoke by Ansley. Zach was at the show so he gives us a wrap up/ review. We also have an email from a very special listener. We get into podcast and comics and how the two have merged. Is there a line in comedy? Who makes the line? Are there some topics that just aren’t funny and some words that should not be used? All in all it's a good conversation about comedy, the rules and how to grow a healthy local comedy scene. I would love to see a local comic scene here like in other big towns and Brian is doing his part. Get involved! Help it grow. Go to a local show or open mic and support these guys and let's show the rest of the world that Fort Worth can bring the funny! The last song is also a new song I have been digging on the last couple of weeks. Its called In the Company of Wolves by the band Caterpillars. Let me know what you think! Funkytownpodcast@gmail.com

Clint Niosi and Claire Hecko (Frosty)
Tuesday Jul 17, 2018
Tuesday Jul 17, 2018
Clint Niosi is a Fort Worth singer/,songwriter, composer, producer and multi instrumentalist. His wife Claire Hecko often plays viola and bass with him. She is also the composer of Frosty but more on that later. The opening track for the show is September by Clint Niosi and it is off of his new album Daedalum. We start off with national Ice Cream Day, get into the album, talk about the award show, Metal, Jazz and adulting. I’ve often wondered what it was like to write compositions for film, tv and/or plays so it was cool to get to talk to Clint about that as well as recording Girls Rock Fort Worth this week. There is a song and video on the new album called Carousel. The song and video are about Logans Run which was filmed here locally. The second song we play is also off the new album and its called Born to Lie. There are no Zach Libs this week. Sorry Zachary. In hindsight we probably should’ve played because I bet Clint and Claire would have given some great answers but I was really looking forward to talking to Claire about Frosty. The album (Frosty) was written by Claire and its interesting to hear how a husband and wife work together to see Claire's vision come to light. We find out where the name Frosty comes from and if there are any plans for live shows and maybe a follow up album? The album was recorded by Clint Niosi as well as the new Manana Cowboy album. Clint records under Orange Otter Audio. We have Marfa talk, the border wall and vegetarians. All in all a really good show show. Clint and Claire are super cool and super interesting. The music they make is dark, moody, heavy and absolutely beautiful. The last track is a Frosty track called Shell. All music is on your favorite streaming service or I have some links below.

Summer Emerson is Folked Up
Tuesday Jul 03, 2018
Tuesday Jul 03, 2018
I have been Facebook stalking Summer Emerson for a couple of months now. I followed her stories doing singer songwriter contest, open mics and radom videos of music from her room. I should've know she was the sister of Vincent Neil Emerson but I'm slow sometimes. Summer has just started a band called Folked Up. She has Daniel on guitar and he came along for the interview. The opening track is Coconut Man. Summer has a great voice! Not only singing but speaking and laughing. We talk about her new project Folked Up. We talk about songwriting and music formulas for playing with others. Its tough sometimes if you are a solo artist and never played with a band to teach your stuff to others. We talk about East Texas, Horses. Rodeos, and Cowboys Vs Hippies. Her and Daniel are cool folk and you need to keep your eyes out for them. The second track is Blood Soaked Wings. A darker number full of beauty. Then Zach libs has a rough start but a great end! Bi Polar Bears! (Robbo)We also briefly get into the MAF18 and the upcoming Awards Show, Texas Bar Law and Zachs Front Bottom. You can find Summer on Moday nights at Rusty's and they are doing some cool stuff with that open mic. They also have a couple of shows coming up you want to look out for. August at Dreamy Life! The great thing about this podcast is that it shows all these great people just up and doing stuff. Making their dreams happen. Let it be an inspiration to you. Get out there and let your voice be heard! Make sure and check out Summer Lucis Emerson on Facebook. Curious about the middle name? You can find out about it in this show! The last track is a cover of House of the Rising Sun (not thumb)
