4 Pistol Front
Tuesday Jun 19, 2018
Tuesday Jun 19, 2018
This week we have 3 of the 4 Pistol Front guys. This is a pretty new band that I bet you haven't heard yet and they are pretty great. The show starts off with the first song of the EP called Who we are. It has a strong punk feel, really fun. Then we get to know the guys. How the guys met and got together. Dustin, the singer, wasn't there so it was fun to have a band in without the front man to answer songs about song writing. The EP is called Gentle Ben and its a 3 track riot. We talk bears obviously. Totally upbeat and fun. How does a brand new band start gigging? Who do they call? How do you get your foot in the door? Also do band need gimmicks because their music is terrible? The second track is JDs Super Song #2 (fire walk with me). The boys have a great sense of humor and I enjoyed getting to know them. In the second half we talk a little more about the music and we also talk alternate timelines and the Mandela effect. You can see the boys play July 7th at the Pepper Mill lounge with Josh and the Jet Noise, Bruce Magnus and Lindys Revenge. Nothing to Lose (Songs from America) is the last track on the EP and show. Its a good one. Slowed down groove. I hope you enjoy the show and the EP. We DID!!! https://4pistolfront.bandcamp.com/

Wednesday Jun 13, 2018
Firtst off this incredible photo was taking by John Erwin, Bandstalker, from a show at MASS but not this one. This show was recorded live Sunday June 10th 2018 at MASS. It is the Big Red Ants CD Release show. Zachary Zanetich, Rebekah Elizabeth and I had our faces melted that night. This show was fantastic. The boys did good. Real good. They had a great crowd and played tunes off of there 2nd Album, self titled. Now the show is part live show and part talk before the show. You'll get some great live music, a small intro from the 3 of us, more live music, the interview with most of the band, live music, Zach libs with the whole band, live music, a wrap up and we close with, you guessed it, more live music. The boys did so good that night. We were all blown away. I hope you check it out. If you get a chance listen to the new album. Its on all the platforms and go seem them live. You wont get how amazing these boys are until you witness this in person. Until then, put on headphones, close your eyes and take a trip with us to Main at South Side to witness an incredible live local band. https://funkytownpodcast.podbean.com/e/funkytownpodcast-massacres-the-fwwma-nomination-show-4/
If you listened to the above show and the last part of the show cut out, you can hear the missing end here. Now. So Sorry about that. A computer glitch or something dropped the last 25minutes or so. There is some good info in there so I wanted to make sure you get it. Plus the last track by Convoy and the Cattlemen is worth the listen. So if you didn't get to hear the end of the show here it is. Thanks for the listens. Any ideas, suggestions, complaints or want to book a guest spot funkytownpodcast@gmail.com

FunkytownPodcast Massacres the FWWMA Nomination Show 4
Monday Jun 04, 2018
Monday Jun 04, 2018
It is the fourth annual FunkytownPodcast Massacres the Fw Weekly Music Award Nomination Extravaganza Show. Eric Griffey (who puts this whole thing together) joins us for the 3rd year in a row. Podcasting from a secret location in the mid cities, to keep the influences away the best we can, we go through every category and discuss. Much like you and your friends might do at a bar over beers. Besides Eric Griffey I am joined by Zachary Zanetich, Susie Ramon and Dustin Schneider from The Jerry Jonestown Massacre/ Plastik Object Photography. The opening song, as well as the middle and end, is from the Frequencies Vol 9. Royal Suns kick the show off with “Dead Man of Laredo” Each year there are complaints about the FW Weekly. What they did or didn’t do. So I ask Eric his opinion on a couple then we dive in. Its long. We take a middle break and hear the Juma Spears offering for Frequencies Vol 9. Throughout this not only will you hear the categories and nominees, you’ll also hear how the process is made, how to be included and how to lodge a complaint. You will hear new things to check out, new people to go see and when and where the Showcase and Award Ceremony is. This is my favorite time of the year. I like the celebration of local talent and the pride and the hard work that is rewarded. I wish all of you the best of luck. The last track is by Convoy and the Cattlemen "Ain't No Bar of Mine" (Frequencies Vol 9)

UH OH Jiminy!
Tuesday May 29, 2018
Tuesday May 29, 2018
This week we have a brand new band with some brand new songs. Uh Oh Jiminy joins us in One Horn Studio so we can get to know them a little better. We have Daniel Stinson-Rhythm guitar/backing vocals and songwriter. Jeremy Butler on lead vocals and Jerry Sandoval on bass. Daniel Conkovich, drummer, and Tom Cauble, lead guitarist, couldn’t make it. The first song is all over Itunes, Spotify and wherever else you get your tunage and it’s called Face the Music. The interview has the typical how did y'all meet and form as well as some “Behind the Face the Music talk. Also is Arlington on its way to being a major music player? We talk cover songs and Hang Studio in Hurst where Face the Music was recorded. We talk songwriting, day jobs and what its like to be a new band trying to break into the scene. This band is so new that they don’t have a song recorded for the middle break so we take the opportunity to play a very important public service announcement. We have emails this week! funkytownpodcast@gmail.com Zach Libs, local comedy shows in Fort Worth (Specifically Republic Street Bar on Saturday Night) and upcoming shows and announcements. We have a lot of fun getting to know these guys. They seem super cool and easy to get along with and I’d say their music reflects that. Super cool and easy to digest. We close with a brand new song. You can’t hear this track anywhere but here for the next several weeks. So make sure you listen all the way to the end for a very special exclusive premier of Uh Oh Jiminy’s “Wash Her Out” and check them out on all the social media platforms.

Juma Spears Flashback
Wednesday May 16, 2018
Wednesday May 16, 2018
Juma Spears is a local rap artist and I've seen and heard his name but wasnt familiar with him. Joe and Zach saw him perform at Fortress Fest and wrote me saying "We must get this guy on the show!" So here he is and what a fatastic guest. He was dropping gold before the first song was even finished playing. The First song by the way is-Song about Cars from Knowledge is Power. Knowledge is power was recorded with Ben Napier. We chatted about Fortress Fest being a big deal, his backing band for the show and a collaboration coming up with our buddy Wrex. We talk about the Cloudland Podcast with Brit and how he got started in the FW music scene. How hard is it? How can Fort Worth be better for rap? We talk about the FW Weekly Compilation, Dru B Shinin, Wizard Visions' Summerthon, stage prescence and a little Friday on the Green before the break. The middle track is Flashback off of the Flashback EP. We have a call to action for emails!! Then its back into great conversation with Juma. Female rappers, flirting, networking, Mothers Day, Erika Badu, being in a movie, Leon Bridges are just some of the topics we touched in the second half. It was so great to meet this guy and hear his story and opinions. He is a super cool cat. Check him out around town, pick up his music and mix it up a little bit. The closing track is Stay Awhile.

Josh and the Jet Noise ( the 3rd most okay band in North Richland Hills)
Tuesday May 08, 2018
Tuesday May 08, 2018
This week we have a brand new outfit from the Confounded's Josh Reed and Matt "Robotuner" Thomas called Josh and the Jet Noise. Josh and the Jet Noise is a 3 piece that includes Chris Grucza on drums. The first song we hear is a song called Darkness. We talk some about Josh's voice and songwriting style. Then we get to know Chris a little better. How do you manage an adult life with playing in a rock and roll band? Who are the two most okay bands in North Richland Hills? We chat about movies, tribute bands and small victories. They also have a couple of shows already lined up. June 8th at Lolas and June 22nd at Dreamy Life Happy Hour. The middle track is "Slam Bang Theatre" and there is a great story behind this song with some cool Fort Worth History. Then we have Zach Libs, Lil' Tay, Fortress Fest, Leon Bridges, Friday on the Green, Soundcloud vs Bandcamp, and jealousy. The closing track is The Last Dance. (Its about dancing in a night club while the world outside ends.) I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing more from these guys. I like the move from Hard Rock (Confounded) to something more Pop Rock.

Spilling the Gossip with Victor Toruno
Wednesday Apr 25, 2018
Wednesday Apr 25, 2018
I was in a really weird mood when we recorded this. It is because I was super stoked to sit and hang out with Victor Toruno for the next hour. He is really fun to hang out with and I haven't seen him in a while. So I was very much looking forward to this. If you aren't familiar with Victor he is the frontman singer/songwriter keyboardist for Svenny Baby. The opening song Wasteland is their most recent release. https://svennybabymusic.bandcamp.com/ The other two tracks are brand new never before heard songs from their newest album Voyager, which will be out soon! The whole show was a blur. I barely remember what we talked about so here are Zach Notes!
First song- Wastelands by Svenny Baby
Plagiarism is a word. How would Victor raise a child? Pistol Pete and child rearing. Mayfest and Main Street arts fest. Arlington band, EDM and singing to a track. New album called Voyager.
Second song- Lady Of Violet Eyes
Remakes and is the Rock running for President? Record store day and vinyls. Man crushes, Murderers and Netflix shows. Theme songs and bands who write them. We’re a gossip show? Fortress Fest and a Joke.
Third song- Deeper
