Big shout out to Eric Griffey and the FW Weekly for putting on one hell of a celebration. It was epic. This show is epic. All hands on deck and we have great interviews from some of your favorite locals, audio from the awards and general podcasting fun. Sit back and hang on, pack a lunch because its a long trip. pop luck '17

Its the first ever Pop Luck and we were all over it. Zach, Susie and I had a really good time. We saw great live music, hung out with awesome people, had some great conversations and all for a good cause. It was a total success with lots of money raised for the Tarrant County Food Bank. We have live music from all the bands that played and starting off the show is the Crystal Furs. We also have live music from Lindby, the Hendersons and Henry the Archer. We have interviews from each band as well as a few suprise guest like Big Foot, Caleb Stanislaws Dad Casey and Denver Williams. In the Lindby interview we find out that the band is working on something very cool and exciting. I so cant wait for it. You have to listen to find out. Also Crystal Furs is working on a new record as is the Hendersons and Henry the Archer is coming off of a big show with KXT in Dallas so there is plenty to talk about. Girls Rock Fort Worth Sarah Reagan

Girls Rock Fort Worth is a Summer Camp that empowers girls through music. Having a 13 year old daughter I find this really interesting and exciting. So I couldn't wait to sit down with Sarah Nicole and find out everything there is to know about it. We kick the show off with Mr. Dude by the Me Thinks. Joe Tacke and Zach Zanetich tell us stories from the show at Sunshine Bar with the Me Thinks and Mean Motor Scooter. We find out all about Girls Rock. Where it started, when it started here and why its so important. We talk about classroom structure and some of the local musicians who have volunteered. This is a really cool thing and if you have time to donate or musical type stuff to donate or just cold hard cash, the girls could use the help and you are just ensuring a better future with your charity. We have the music awards coming up and all three bands are nominated. The middle slot goes to I Happy Am, the Invisible Man which has many nominations attached to it. The second half we get to know Sarah a little better, talk a little more about Girls Rock and close with a really cool thing happening this weekend called Pop Luck a benefiting the Tarrant Area Food Bank. Wow I guess this weeks show is about empowerment and charity. The closing track is by the Crystal Furs which are also nominated in the Weekly and they are playing Pop Luck as well.  The last song is Quit You. FIm Duture Better Now

Better Now is back in One Horn studio this week. Lillian Cormack - Vocals, Louis Lopez - Lead Guitar/Vocals, Alex Weymier - Bass/Backing Vocals but not Addison Nelson on Drums. Happy Belated Birthday Addison! The show kicks off with a song called Back Pains. We catch up with the band in the first half. Talk about the split they did with Greg Cote & the real life friends, playing festivals, spending time out of town and what exactly is Emo talk. The middle track is from the aforementioned Greg Cote and the real life friends 4-24-16. We play Zach Libs in the second half and talk a little bit about anxiety. FWWMA Nominations 3 (Return of the Poobah)

The Fort Worth Weekly Music Award Nominations are out and we do our 3rd annual Funkytownpodcast Massacres the FWWMA Nomimations with the Return of the Poobah (Eric Griffey). Dustin Schneider The Jerry Jonestown Massacre lets us use the Temple of Eye for the show and Zachary Zanetich and I are also joined by Matt Thomas Robotuner's Audio Diorama The Confounded. The Poobah brought music from the upcoming Frequencies 8. The first jam is Bathroom Break by Programme, shout out to Dr. Bone's "Salza". We spend a few minutes talking about Henry the Archer, fishing and Dustin's trip. Then its all Weekly Awards. We talk process, inside baseball and we go through each category and guess who might win, who we may vote for and who we'd like to see next time. There is a lot of stories and hot local music opinions. The middle track is also off of the compilation and it's I Happy Am's Daddy's Got a Gun. After we go through each category we wrap up with a sad story of all good things come to an end with Matt Thomas. The Confounded's Last Gig! Match Game with Henry the _____________

Henry the Archer is hands down one of my favorite bands and friends of the podcast. I was super excited to have them over this special Sunday. They have a brand new album out this week, May 26, called Zero is a Number. We play New Mexico off of the album to start the show. Man these boys are on the rise. New Mexico is being played on 91.7 KXT and the band has an amazing oppertunity to play the KXT Sun Sets concert series this summer in June. Big things are happening so tune in! The middle track is also off of the new album called Pillow People and there is some sweetness here. The second half thing get ________.  We do something I've wanted to do for a while. We play Match Game! Joe and Zach are the contestants and the star studded panel is off course Richard, Kevin and Charles from HTA. This was really frun. All week long I was looking forward to this podcast, playing this game and seeing Smokey and the Bandit at the movie theatre. Sunday was a really great day topped off with a blast of a podcast. The Crystal Furs

The Crystal Furs came over this week and brought some indiepop goodness with them. We open the show with Weightless, a diffrent kind of love song. Then we get to know Kevin Buchanan (Keys, Vocals) Mandy Hand (Guitar, Vocals) and Tanner Brown (Drums, Producer). The first half we talk about their full length album, writing styles, how they came to be and something amazing put on by Mandy and Nick Goodrich called PopLuck. Popluck is a benefit for Tarrant Area Food Back featuring music from The Crystal Furs, Lindby, The Hendersons, Svenny Baby, Grammars and Dj Ronnie Heart. Listen for the details! The middle track is called Summers Over. I find melancholic lyrics with the happyish pop music very enjoyable and The Crystal Furs do it well. In the second half we have Zach Libs. A pretty decent Zach Libs too. We talk about Mothers Day for a bit and finish out talking Christmas music, because you know its almost June. =) The last piece of music is my favorite of the three.
