Alexandria Rhea and Maria Demus Soft Serve Swirl
Tuesday Jul 05, 2016
Tuesday Jul 05, 2016
This week Joe Tacke and I had the great pleasure of meeting Alexandria Rhea and Maria Demus. All of a sudden she just popped up on my radar. Once I heard her play I knew I had to have her and Maria on the show. If you don't know Alexandria Rhea then here is your chance and really think you should. She played 3 songs for us live acoustic. The first one is called Speak Easy. The middle track is my favorite and its an immediate repeat when you hear it. Its called Dodger. The last song is Anything Else and its a real late 60s bluesy Janis type jam. You can find these songs plus a couple of others off of her new EP Naked Soul and I recommend picking it up. The conversation we have is everything from her music, to being a mom, fireworks, yoga, meditation and #flashtaco is back (before some other show that is not even on the radar steals it). You can catch her July 30th at The Grotto for her EP release party. Like her Facebook page, check out her soundcloud and get her new EP for only 5 bones.

Its the most wonderful time of the year. The Fort Worth Weekly Music Awards Festival was this past weekend and we spent 2 days (2 days man) rocking our socks off and collecting thousands of hours of precious audio for your listening enjoyment. We narrowed it down to a little more than an hour and a half. So if you missed it or want to relive it then join us and all our debauchery. The show kicks off with Vodeo live at Live Oak, we talk with Brandon Burnett and Jessica Burnett of The Phantom Sensation, We also talk with Eric Griffy, John Roddy, Dustin Schneider of The Jerry Jonestown Massacre, Richard Philliip from Henry the Archer, and a special guest appearance from one of the Me-Thinks. In addition to Vodeo we have live music from The Cut Throat Finches( live at the Grotto), Sally Majestic(live at Lolas), Ronnie Heart(live at Shipping and Receiving), and Pinkish Black(Lolas).
Have fun and see you at the awards!!

Earthchild Imperius Rainbow Canon

Wednesday Jun 22, 2016
This weeks episode was really fun for me. I am a fan of Igneous Grimm and familiar with Secret Ghost Champion, but there is a new collaboration called Earthchild Imperius. This weeks guest is Ryan Elmore and Zach Stevens and they are in all three bands. After the first track, Lum Light from Earthchild Imperius, we get into the players of the three bands and some of the differences. I was a little confused as to who was in what and what the general vibe was. Its much clearer now. I really like Earthchild, it has an old Pink Floyd feel to it. At some point in the first half half we talk about reality and the simulation theory. The middle track is called Dark at the Daylights end.
The second half we have no Zach Libs but we do have some best friend talk. Ryan and Zach have been bffs since grade school and its very cool to hear about their shared history and memories. We find out how Ryan really feels about Disney and we touch on the Weekly Awards and the Festival this weekend. This one is totally fun and interesting and a little tangential. Join us for a crazy ride. The last song is called Rainbow Canon. You can find all these and more on SoundCloud.

Grant Bloom Elaborate the Elaborate
Monday Jun 13, 2016
Monday Jun 13, 2016
This week Grant Bloom comes over to One Horn Studio to play us some tunes and catch up. The opening song is called Closer. All 3 songs were done live in studio. Its been a while since Grant has been on the show so we find out what he is up to now. He is working on a new album which he is recording in his house. We talk about his new songs, his family and his girlfriend and what may be in store for him after the summer. The middle track is Elaborate Disguise and that leads us to discover what a homograph is. Zach Libs is back this week and that will make Susie very happy. We talk about some local shows and say happy birthday to Richard from Henry the Archer. Join Zachary Zanetich, Joe Tacke and I as we try to get through a somber Sunday. Even though we don't mention the awful news out of Florida the podcast was a little heavier this week. Somehow the conversation staid fun and up lifting. So turn off the news and your mind and enjoy some Grant Bloom Music! You can find him on bandcamp and Soundcloud. Check out his last EP. Its $5 and you wont regret it. Its just fantastic. This kid is young and fun to watch play and sing. The last track is called Stick Together. Seems like pertinent advice in these times. Pre Nomination Pontification
Monday May 30, 2016
Monday May 30, 2016
I am really excited about the Fort Worth Weekly Awards Nominations coming out. This year I got to be an active participant. 1 of 50 I think. So what we did was take the blank ballot I was sent and discuss the different categories and talk about some of the bands I filled in. This is not, I repeat, NOT the list of nominees but rather a show of who we (Joe Tacke, Zach Zanetich) think may be, could be, possibly should be or would be. This whole show is strictly speculative and has no real information it as it pertains to the awards or nominations. It's just an excuse to talk about local music and bands and different genres for an hour and a half. What we are really doing is ramping up for next weeks show when we will have on some very special guest to discuss the actual nominees and we can see who we left out and how totally wrong or how scary right we were. This is a very fun show. We give lots of shout outs and there is a ton of music being played. Its our version of a mock draft I guess. We do showcase three song as usual. We open the show with an unreleased War Party track called Ok I Lied. Its like a minute and six seconds of greatness and will be one of many tracks of off the upcoming Group Therapy compilation by Dreamy Life. The middle track is called Grandma's Prayer and its of a record by Krum & Rob Viktum called Bare Knuckle Gospel. I absolutely love this track and this album. Please check it out. We close with a song by the Siberian Traps called New Friend in Town. I dont think I have heard the Siberian Traps like this before and I love it. I cant wait to hear the album when its out. We are days away from the list being released and I hope this gets you amped up for it. I wish all of you the best of luck.

Un Chien Parle
Monday May 23, 2016
Monday May 23, 2016
Stephen Beatty, Kris Knight and Jerrett Lyday (3/5 of Un Chien) stopped by One Horn Studio to hang with Joe Tacke, Zachary Zanetich and myself. We had such a good time with these guys. The songs on the show are all brand new off of their upcoming album. You hear it here first so tune in for some sweet tuneage. The opening track is called Amarillo. We talk about that song some, get into downtown woo hoo boys and girls somewhere along the way, and then into some of their favorite venues to play. We hear about Jerretts first time to play with the band and guess who was there to experience it? The middle track is Stephen solo acoustic with Kris doing back up harmonies and its called I Wont Die Alone. Very Nice! We come back with an epic Zach Libs as always! We find out which member was in a Nada Surf video, synth geek talk, and we get swag! The bar has been set! Man we really had a fun time with these boys. They are super cool and very funny, I wish we had been recording on the pre show. The last track is called The Way She Goes. Shout out to Hand Drawn Records! Shout out to all our podcasting friends! Like Un Chien on Facebook and go see a show and pick up a record or a really cool lid! Thanks for listening!

Hightower in the One Horn
Monday May 16, 2016
Monday May 16, 2016
I was really excited this week to have Lindsay Hightower and Steve Hammond from the band Hightower join me in One Horn Studio with Joe Tacke and Zachary Zanetich. I got to catch a set they did this weekend at Central Market. Hightower has a great bluesy, sultry, dark, rocking sound. Seeing them live you will catch some great covers and some finely crafted originals. The opening track is called Trying to Forget You. I really like this song. Its so catchy and fun to sing along with. Its probably my favorite of theirs right now. In this interview we find out a little about Lindsay. Where she is from and what kind of journey she was on that lead her here. Here childhood influences and teachers and even higher education. We all so find out about Steve, where he is from and how he ended up here. We also talk about the other members. Top notch musicians in this outfit and it shows. The middle track is Rain in Sunshine. This song always reminds me of Pop Up Fest. That is where I was first introduced to Hightower. It also seems like it had rained or was going to that day. After the break we have a really good Zach Libs and we continue the conversation about her new album Echo Spring. The last song is called Wondering Eye. All three songs you here are from her brand new album. You can get it on I-tunes, Chief Records and off course from the band by seeing a show. Like the Facebook page and go see a show.

The Great Funky Escape
Tuesday May 10, 2016
Tuesday May 10, 2016
This week we find ourselves at The Secret Chambers for our first ever Funkytown Podcast Escape Room Challenge. Join myself and Lady Diana Lord, Joe Tacke and the amazing Amanda Schulte Tacke, Zachary Zanetich and the Electric Rebekah Elizabeth, Richard Phillip and the bodacious Brittney Hill as we try to escape Blackbeard's chamber in under 60 minutes. Let the delightfully daring Dustin Schneider dance inside you ear holes with play by play and analysis. You will hear both audio from the event, mine and Dustin's reaction/thoughts of the audio/event as well as good local music. We did it different this week. 3 D/FW bands from back in the day covering "metal" from back in the day. It kicks off with UFOFU's version of Round and Round by Ratt. At the halfway point we hear from Soup and their version of Cherry Pie. To close it out we play Hagfish and their version of Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap by AC/DC. We had so much fun and I hope the show reflects that and I hope you have fun listening to this one.
