Hightower in the One Horn
Monday May 16, 2016
Monday May 16, 2016
I was really excited this week to have Lindsay Hightower and Steve Hammond from the band Hightower join me in One Horn Studio with Joe Tacke and Zachary Zanetich. I got to catch a set they did this weekend at Central Market. Hightower has a great bluesy, sultry, dark, rocking sound. Seeing them live you will catch some great covers and some finely crafted originals. The opening track is called Trying to Forget You. I really like this song. Its so catchy and fun to sing along with. Its probably my favorite of theirs right now. In this interview we find out a little about Lindsay. Where she is from and what kind of journey she was on that lead her here. Here childhood influences and teachers and even higher education. We all so find out about Steve, where he is from and how he ended up here. We also talk about the other members. Top notch musicians in this outfit and it shows. The middle track is Rain in Sunshine. This song always reminds me of Pop Up Fest. That is where I was first introduced to Hightower. It also seems like it had rained or was going to that day. After the break we have a really good Zach Libs and we continue the conversation about her new album Echo Spring. The last song is called Wondering Eye. All three songs you here are from her brand new album. You can get it on I-tunes, Chief Records and off course from the band by seeing a show. Like the Facebook page and go see a show.

The Great Funky Escape
Tuesday May 10, 2016
Tuesday May 10, 2016
This week we find ourselves at The Secret Chambers for our first ever Funkytown Podcast Escape Room Challenge. Join myself and Lady Diana Lord, Joe Tacke and the amazing Amanda Schulte Tacke, Zachary Zanetich and the Electric Rebekah Elizabeth, Richard Phillip and the bodacious Brittney Hill as we try to escape Blackbeard's chamber in under 60 minutes. Let the delightfully daring Dustin Schneider dance inside you ear holes with play by play and analysis. You will hear both audio from the event, mine and Dustin's reaction/thoughts of the audio/event as well as good local music. We did it different this week. 3 D/FW bands from back in the day covering "metal" from back in the day. It kicks off with UFOFU's version of Round and Round by Ratt. At the halfway point we hear from Soup and their version of Cherry Pie. To close it out we play Hagfish and their version of Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap by AC/DC. We had so much fun and I hope the show reflects that and I hope you have fun listening to this one. Fort Worth for Bernie
Monday May 02, 2016
Monday May 02, 2016
This weeks guest is Sky Allred from Fort Worth For Bernie. I have wanted to have someone on from the local group and was finally able to do so and it was truly a good time. I have been a long time fan of the Bernmeister. I honestly never thought he'd run and if he did he couldn't contend, but he did and he is. Sky comes on and talks about how the group got started, what they do and how its grown. We had a great conversation about media, a m radio, health care, income equality, #bernieorbust, and moneys influence in politics. Its not your normal show but it is totally a normal show complete with a very special Zach Libbs. Thanks to Dustin Schneider from The Jerry Jonestown Massacre for a special treat during the aforementioned Zach Libbs! The show kicks off with the perfect track to set up the show. Mic Check by Katsuk! We end the show with another perfectly appropriate track. Old Gold Flame by Year of the Bear. For the middle break we have another groovy track from War Party called Hang on to the Feeling. If you're not a fan of the gentle Senator from Vermont then maybe you want to skip this one, but if you are I think you will enjoy the conversation. There are 2,349,465 things I could have asked Sky about or got into but we ran out of time fast. I hope you enjoy it. #feelthebern #suckitstubbs #bernie #2016

Lets Go Crazy with Nina Ty
Monday Apr 25, 2016
Monday Apr 25, 2016
This week on the show we have the very lovely and talented Nina Ty. She stopped by to do a little catching up and talk a little about her dad. The show opens with a song she wrote called Liquor and Pills. We talk a little about the passing of #Prince. We discuss the question Joshua Reed from the Confounded posted on Facebook, Is Prince the American version of Bowie? We also discuss The Fresh Prince and turning Japanese. Nina is from New Orleans and after making her way here she went back home for a bit but she is back now. So we discuss what she has been up to and her future plans. The middle track we play is from an outfit her dad fronted in the late 70's called One Nation. This track is funky psychedelic and its called Never Put You Down. We talk about Nina's dads influence on her and her own musical path and inspirations. Her last track is called Backwards and it sparks an interesting conversation on race relations, community policing, the progression and regression of civil rights and liberties. Its a very fun and interesting time we had with Nina. She is very easy to get a long with, has great style and a beautiful voice. I hope you enjoy this one. Check out our podcasting friends

War Party Stoned not Stupid
Wednesday Apr 20, 2016
Wednesday Apr 20, 2016
Zachary Zanetich and I showed up at Cloudland Recording Studio with feet full of mud and Joe Tackeless. We were there to interview all 5 members of War Party. I am a big fan of this band and had only met Cameron Smith, Peter Marsh and Chris. It was really cool getting to meet Ricky Wilford and Tyler Moore. What a fun bunch of characters. We did the interview first. Afterwards we hung around and smoked with cigarettes and then War Party recorded 3 tracks live for us. Jellyfish which starts off the show, To be Young Again is the middle track (both of which are off of their latest release To Love and Fear It) and they close out the show with a brand new song Ok, I lied. I cant begin to tell you how much fun we had talking to the boys. We talked about their videos, songs, and tour stories. Local buisness, band and person shout outs. Zach Libs could be the beginning of the end of #WarParty. The Mayor pops up and we even talk about Crowley. Yee! Haw! Seriously the band is super cool, the music super awesome and this is a super duper way to spend your 420 holiday. #stonednotstupid #420 #suckitstubbs

Mean Motor Scooter Blue (cool yet refreshing)
Monday Apr 11, 2016
Monday Apr 11, 2016
This week we have Mean Motor Scooter to promote their single(s) release. They have two brand new songs and you get to hear one here. Such a Seducer kicks off the show. This show covers a lot of random topics. Find out if Sammy Kidd has ever wrecked a vehicle? Does Jeffrey Chase Friedman have someone that he trust with his life? Would Joe Tacke commit purgery for a friend? We have a new sponser but what exactly is Mean Motor Crunch? Does Dustin have a drinking Problem? Will Zachary Zanetich do Zach Libs? The middle track is Boys Bad News. After the break I think the show and conversation picks up. We talk about Friday on the Green, the Sally Majestic show at Lolas Saloon and also our Sunday at Butlers Antique with Keep Fort Worth Funky. What is the better night Friday or Saturday? Does the rain affect shows? Anyone want to buy an island? Are we headed to a singularity? Have we evolved higher than our current state? What are people from Waco called? Why are there so many questions? April 30 Grotto be there to support our friends Henry the Archer, The Phantom Sensation, Picnic Lightning and of course Mean Motor Scooter!!! The last track was recorded live by Richard Phillips at the Live Oak and its called Wave Spotting!

This week we have a Ben Napier and Scott Vernon from Sally Majestic. This is a fun show. Zach is making a record so he is gone, but have no fear we are podcasting from One Horn Studio with Joe Tacke at the helm. The opening track is Timpossible. What a fun instrumental number. We get into recording the record, some Sally Majestic history, and we talk about the show coming up Saturday April 9 at Lolas. Its a free show with some amazing bands. Show starts at 7 and you cant watch bands outside and inside until 10 then the party stays indoors. Seriously this look like such a good time. All ages, free, Sally Majestic CD release and good times guaranteed guaranteed guaranteed The middle track is called Struck Out and was recorded live at the Wherehouse (rip). Its definitely another great song. After the middle break we talk about Ska, some music history, the following in Colorado, being a dual state band, greener grass, greener hair and a Donald Trump rally. The last track is another great one, with more awesome horns and some great guitar work. Its called Excuse Me Sir. This is a fun listen and I hope to see you Saturday at Lolas!

Luke McGlathery Life Aint Hard
Monday Mar 28, 2016
Monday Mar 28, 2016
Lucky Luke came by the house this Easter to talk about his new album Life aint Hard. The first track we hear is a live track, brand new song, called I Had it All. He is already writing new songs for a new album but lets talk about this one first. The first half of the show we spend mainly talking about his latest record. The middle track is Babe. Another new one and really catchy. We waste podcasting time with Zach libs, do an impromptu flash taco where we talk about Lukes Fuzzy arrest. We have jokes, stories and music. Its short and sweet because Luke had to get to Lolas for his set. Every last Sunday you can see Luke McGlathery at Lolas and on Mondays its open mic night. 4/20 at the Grotto you can see Luke for a very special show. The last track is the hidden track off of his album. Happy Easter
Enjoy

Keegan McInroe International Vagabond
Monday Mar 21, 2016
Monday Mar 21, 2016
How am I just now meeting Keegan McInroe? I guess he is always out traveling around singing his songs. What an interesting and cool guy he is. I believe you will enjoy our conversation. The opening song is I Got Trouble off of his brand new album Uncouth Pilgrims. I have really enjoyed listening to this the last couple of weeks and was extra happy to learn all the players on this album. A Fort Worth who's who of local musicians are all through this album. We talk about that and SXSW and Europe and weather and politics, oh oh, AND thieving transvestites in Barcelona. The middle track is Tonight and also off the album. The album is Texas Blues Country Folk i guess. Its very Americana but diverse at the same time. He has a lot of stories from traveling abroad and we just scratched the surface. The stories are recorded in musical form on this album. If you see Keegan McInroe around town, or hanging at the Chat bend his ear and ask him to share some stories. Such a personable guy with a great energy, personality and easy to talk to. My favorite track off of the album is called Give Me the Rain and he plays an incredible live acoustic version of it. You can find his CD locally at a show or some of the local record shops like Chiefs or Dreamy Life. You can also get it and so much more by checking out
