Libby Villari in Boyhood, Local Theater and Coming to Texas
Monday Dec 14, 2015
Monday Dec 14, 2015
This weeks show was just what I needed after a long week and an even longer day. Libby Villari is this weeks guest and man is she an amazing guest. The show kicks off with another track off of the Hand Drawn Record Compilation Vol 4. What can I say I really dig this compilation. This week is Bundle Up Baby Jesus and what an interpretation of the greatest story ever told. Then we jump right into a truly fantastic film called Boyhood by Richard Linklater in which Libby has a fantastic role playing the boys grandmother. She told some really interesting stories about the movie and some of the actors in the movie. If we have any Friday Night Light fans she played the Mayor. So I have had a Mayor on the Show. We also hear a fantastic story about where she grew up and how she ended up here. All I'll say about that is hippies invade Sprintown! We also hear about how she got into acting. The middle song is for all you Star Wars dorks out there anticipating the release this week. We have Lindy from back a couple of years ago with Cold it is, on the Darkside. We play Zach Libs and its pretty good this week. We do flash taco and we talk about Hip Pocket Theater. I meet Libby through my church, Unity Fort Worth and we talk about how she found such a cool place. Oh and we also talk Johnny Depp. Yes that right she was in a Johnny Depp film. Which one? Listen to find out. I know you can IMDB it but listen anyways. We end with an awkward homage and goodbye to my dear friend April. I'll miss you eternally April. Last track Blue Christmas from Nick and Paige from Austin. fort worth funky

Tuesday Dec 08, 2015
If you guys are not familiar with Fort Worth Funky then you better recognize. What these guys are doing is nothing short of amazing, and wonderful and kind. I love to see people use their skill or talents to shine a light on their community. That is what these guys do. They do short videos on local people and their awesomeness. Its just enough to get you interested in the person or place and it will make you want more. They have done videos on Melt Ice Cream, Hot Damn Tamales, their most recent one was Docs Records and before too long you can see the one they did on yours truly. Its a special episode and we kick it off with the one and only Leon Bridges and the Christmas song he did with Lindby. We (I) talk momentarily about Leon and SNL. Fort Worth Funky is Warren Cook, Paul (no last name) and Ben in Seattle. (our first phone in interview) One of my favorite pieces they did was on Ginny Mac and so it seemed appropriate to play in the middle and Joe Tacke picked a nice one from her. Guess which Johnny Cash song she covers. We of course do Zach Libs and Flash Taco. Come along for a ride, get to know these funky individuals and Merry Christmas! We close out the show with Dome Dwellers off of Hand Drawn Compilation Album 4 Holiday Music. You can find it for free on soundcloud. Midnight Wolf
Tuesday Dec 01, 2015
Tuesday Dec 01, 2015
The new intro is fantastic! This week Zach, Joe and myself welcome a couple of the guys from Midnight Wolf. Charles Clark is the front man with an original yet familiar raw rocking voice . Antonio Wicker is the gunslinger who will slay you with his guitar playing. They are a 5 piece blues rock funk groove band or what you may call good old fashion rock and roll. The first track is One of a Kind. You wont hear Midnight Wolf acoustic anywhere but here so check it out. We have a great conversation about the band, the city, and favorite local places to play. Of course there is Zach Libs and Flash Taco. The middle track is Run Away and we close with Sweet Little Thing. I really enjoyed hanging out with these guys. I also love what these guys are doing with blues based rock and roll. Check them out around town at your favorite venue and get ready to be groovified. Also check out our friends at the Jerry Jonestown Massacre, Robotuner and Off Radar and Primal Vision Podcast!

Show 100 It Was A Gooey Day
Tuesday Nov 24, 2015
Tuesday Nov 24, 2015
This is the 100th time I have sat to write this and first I must say thanks to anyone and everyone who has helped, heard or been on the show. This show is a little crazy. We take the funkytownpodcast and mix it with The Jerry Jonestown Massacre and add a little Mexican spice from Off Radar Podcast. When you have host from all 3 shows trying to get microphone time, well things can get a little crazy. The show kicks off this week with my new favorite Cosmic Trigger track called Catharsis. We talk about the big show at Saturday night Attack of the Funk Fest and Dustin Schneider gives his first impression of 1912 hemphill. We also discuss Dome Dwellers and the greatness of Andy Pickett. Matt (suck it) Stubbs questions Zach Zanetich about being a pharmaceutical guinea pig, Zach is all over Stubbs with love, and I think me and Aaron Sanchez are soul mates. Joe? What about Joe Tacke? He was there keeping his hand on the bike horn and keeping the podcast sounding slick and fcc friendly. The middle track is Denver Williams Kick That Heavenly Feeling. There is an Epic Zach Libs!!! I don't recall much after that point in the show. It got a little long. The amazing thing is I started this in my home, alone, only knowing a few people. 2 years and 100 episodes later I am in a room surrounded by some of the coolest mofos I know. I have had a blast getting to know the folks in the local community and finding other weirdos in town that enjoy doing this medium is still very special to me. I am so glad they came on the show. This show is fun, crazy and long but honestly it was my gift to me. So just sit back and enjoy the chaos and think to yourself "this guys done 100 of these?!?" and I aint going anywhere. The next 100 are going to be the best yet. Closing track is Igneous Grimm Fly On. Special thanks to Dustin for the rad cake!!!Aso shout out to James Zametz for sending a bunch of new listeners my way! Peace YallHappy Thanksgiving

Homebrew Throwdown
Wednesday Nov 18, 2015
Wednesday Nov 18, 2015
This week Zach and I go to the inaugural homebrew throwdown. Dirty Eddie Brown, from the FW Weekly, invited us and we had a blast. All three tracks are from Shotgun Friday. We talk with some brewmasters, Tony Drewry of Shotgun Friday, Jacob Pullig from Vodeo and we drink beer! There isn't a whole lot to say about this one except you have everything in it. From awkward moments, to drunken singing, pontificating, live music, sports, car issues and beer drinking. Its a lot of fun, like the mayor says, so sit back, drink some beer and get funkified. Also check out our friends Off Radar, The Jerry Jonestown Massacre, Robotuner and the Musical Multiverse!

The show opens up with a song from Chingalotus called No Mas Flores and we close with Road Soda Swagger. Bye Road Soda. You will be missed. family dinner
Wednesday Oct 21, 2015
Wednesday Oct 21, 2015
The family dinner is a dinner that happens every few months when a few local bands get together for friendship, fellowship and gratitude. Its really quite amazing. Zach and I were invited to come along and podcast. This still feels like a typical podcast but its a little different and really fun and interesting to listen to. The first song is a track by Bomb Quixote i found on bandcamp. Then we get into it with some political talk. We interview Mountain Kid, Animal Spirit and Dead Vinyl with live music from all three. The closing track is Hooray for the Sun camp fire style. It was an amazing night! I hope you enjoy this. Thanks to the group for allowing us to invade!
