Katsuks Labyrinth
Thursday Aug 06, 2015
Thursday Aug 06, 2015
The last time Daniel Katsük was on the show he was raising money for a trek to New Zealand to try and get his song, There and Back Again, played during the closing credits of the new Hobbit movie. Its been a while since then so what is Katsuk up to now? Well, he has been working on a new record called Labyrinth and he debuts some of the songs during this show! The first song we play is called Say You Will and its full and lush and downright amazing. Of course we talk about the new album, the process, and oh guess what, it will be released as a double vinyl. We talk about some voice work Daniel has done in the anime world and some music that has made it into Dragon Ball Z. (This made Zach Zanetich very happy) The middle track is Awake and its another big song. We do some Zach Libs, talk about poop, legalizing drugs, peanut butter and aliens living among us. Oh yeah of course we talk about his trip to New Zealand, playing Evenings at Westside, Bhakti House Band, Elemental Yoga and all the magical mystical talk I love! The closing track is called Ecstasy and it's such a perfect track for the end. Its epic and takes you on a journey. Katsuk is one of the coolest cats (pun intended) and it is always awesome to hang out with him. I think you'll enjoy the conversation. Big thanks to Joe Tacke this week for having over to One Horn Studios. Make sure to follow Daniel Katsuk on Facebook and go get your yoga on at elemental! http://elementalyogatherapy.com/http://katsuk.com/

The title this week is not mine but from the brilliant mind of Nathan Brown and I stole it quick as I could. This weeks guest is Josiah Hunter and he opens up with a live track called Compression Failure. Joe Tacke was here this week making sure Josiah sounded great and boy did he. His guitar playing is full and lush but what grabbed me was his voice on these first two tracks. Its very full with a great tone about it. I meant to tell him this but the thought was lost as we talked about Kansas City, Mountain Kid, The Royal Savages and being in a video for Mean Motor Scooter. Some of you may also know Josiah as the dude who does sound at The Grotto, and so we talk about that a bit too. The middle number is another number full of lush guitar and beautiful voice called Guide. In the second half we do Zach Libs, tell more stories and talk some about his solo stuff State of Suffering. The last track is one of his noise tracks that he improvised here. Its fantastic. This was my first time meeting Josiah and what a cool dude. If you know him I know you will miss seeing him around town. I wish I had meet him earlier. He plays his last show with Mountain Kid Friday Aug 24 at the Grotto and his going away show is Tuesday 28 at the Grotto.Check out Mountain Kids newest https://mountainkid.bandcamp.com/and there is a ton of stuff from him herehttps://stateofsuffering.bandcamp.com/

Moon Grave in Mail Dog Named Aretha Franklin
Monday Jul 06, 2015
Monday Jul 06, 2015
Moon Grave, no S, came by the house and we had an amazing time getting to know each other. The conversation was fun, enlightening, and thoughtful. If you have seen Moon Grave then you know they tend to rock it out big but what they did here was a little quieter and intimate. The first track is called Stop Looking at Me. We talk about the band some and get into the original band name American Holocaust and the issues it caused. We also talk about the General Lee, alternate dimensions, and philosophy/physics. The middle track is another wonderful number called We Are Different. During the break my neighbors dog "Moon" bust into the house. Appropriate. Didn't make the connection last night. We have the return of Zach Libs. I had such a blast getting to know Andrew Thomas Fuentes (singer songwriter) and Byron Andrews (The Human Machine Drum) poor Will the bassist had to work. Damn the Man! Oh and guess what Andrew went to school with our good buddy Aaron Sanchez a.k.a Fern from Off Radar. The last track is called When IPlease check them out at https://moongrave.bandcamp.com/releases

Funkytownpodcast goes Off Radar
Monday Jun 22, 2015
Monday Jun 22, 2015
The first time I met Aaron Sanchez we ended up standing outside the Velvet Taco talking for 3 hours. This podcast isnt much different from that night. I really dig hanging out with Aaron. We had a lot of fun talking about podcast, both local and national, FW Weekly, FW Weekly Awards, Jetta and the Ghost Tree and Leon Bridges. We talk about the journey his podcasting partner William VanDolah is on and what his fill in partner Matt Cliff is up to. The show kicks off with Dead Vinyl Boldonia. I love this song even if I keep forgetting the name. The middle track is a beautiful number by a band that Matt Cliff as well as Aaron were in together called The War Age and the song is called St Louis. The middle song is an hour in and marks the first half. It's a long one and you may want to split it in two. The second half is just as fun and we continue just talking about whatever. Thats what podcasters do! We close out the show with another track off of the new compilation put out by the FW Weekly. This one is by Chingalotus and called One Red Eye. This one is long and fun ( thats what she said ) and I hope you enjoy.Make sure to like Off Radar on all the social media sites and download the latest compilation https://fortworthweekly.bandcamp.com/

Monday Jun 15, 2015
Svenny Baby is back and with a brand new record. We hear a prelude from it and then the show kicks off with Gunslinger. We talk about the tracks off the album, the making of the album and the big show for the album release last week. I absolutely love these boys and always have a blast hanging out with them. We have Victor Toruno Dustin "Dutty" Johnson, Felipe Rosales, and Jonathan (not Joshua) Holder. They boys educate me about their sound and we have a great discussion about the middle track Zach Danger named after our very own Zach Zanetich. Zach has his own segment this week and we play Zach Libs! We have a lot fun and a few laughs. I think you will enjoy Svenny Baby and their new album. Follow them on twitter.com/SvennyBabyYou can see them this friday the 19 of June at Lola's Saloon. Their album is on spotify, itunes, amazon, and yada yada but you can get it for name your own price.https://svennybabymusic.bandcamp.com/The last song on the album is the last song of the show. Its called It's not your fault (This love is gone). See how many local references you can find! F Yeah! Svenny Baby!!

Funkytownpodcast Massacres the FW Weekly Music Awards Nominations
Tuesday Jun 09, 2015
Tuesday Jun 09, 2015
Well, if you ever wanted to hear 4 knuckleheads sit around and spout hot music opinions about the Fort Worth Weekly, Fort Worth Weekly Music Awards and their nomination process then this is the episode for you. Dustin Schneider from The Jerry Jonestown Massacre sits in with myself, Joe Tacke from Mean Motor Scooter and Zach Zanetich from The Phantom Sensation. We attempt to go through each category one by one and discuss the different bands. We covered all but a couple but due to time I edited out a few more. We still cover most of the categories and had a blast doing it. The opening track is from one of the nominees Bummer Vacation and their song Ghost Dad. The middle track is from another nominee Duell, Back To Drunk. The closing artist is also nominated for multiple categories Jake Paleschic Thank You For The Bad Days. This was quite a feat to take on and probably quite a feat to listen to but if you are nominated or know someone who is and curiosity gets the best of you. Here it is. Also at the top of the show we get into Panther Fest and Slide the City. So grab a beer, smoke, and a FW Weekly and follow along. Oh if you have any comments feel free to call 682-593-5586

First off I want to say that this would not have happened if it wasn't for Joe Tacke and Zach Zanetich. Big props to those boys. So yea Pop Up Fest happened in Capps Park and the 3 of us were there to document it. Join us on a journey through art, music, food and drones. Zach interviews Captain Funky,a 12 year old named Penelope and Joe interviews Russell Jack from Gollay, Troody and Hightower. I (ahem ahem) interview council woman Ann Zadeh and President of the Southhemphill Heights Neighborhood Association Paul Millender. We ran into a lot of local musicians. We talk with Joshua Irwin, Richard from Henry the Archer (with Dustin from Jerry Jonestown Massacre at his side) Tornup, Broke String Burnett and Jessica Burnett from Phantom Sensation, Rebecca Elizabeth and Zach of I Happy Am, and Kaity Roberts a wonderful 12 year old who kicked the days live music off. We didn't get to talk with James Zametz because he was running around like a mad man but this event wouldn't be if not for him. This neighborhood and dare I say city wouldn't be what it is without him. He put on a fantastic event and I hope you come along for the ride. We also talked with all the vendors.
