Well, it is finally here. The last podcast of the year was almost the first one of the next year. I couldn't close out the year any better than having Joshua Irwin back on. This week we are podcasting from Joe Tackes home studio deep in the heart of Fairmount. The sound is great and the conversation is fun, uplifting and rich in variation. The show kicks of with Joshs song A light, a boat and a book off of his newest release by the same name. After the song we get into it. We talk family, christmas, and traveling. We hear stories about his songs, we hear tales from the road and camping. We talk money management, Dallas Cowboys football, and Joshs fear of technology or rather overcoming his fear of technology. These last several episodes have been some of the most fun I have had. I am so excited for you to hear this one. It is just as good and fun as any I have done. It's a great way to end the podcast year. The middle track Amigos Parte Uno. This song is one of my favorites. Josh really has a way of turning a verse. This one is filled with love, laughs and some spiritual yumminess for you. Josh debuts a new song at the end. A message I hope you take into the new year with you. Its called Just a little matter in time. Please check out Joshs brand new websitehttp://www.joshuairwin.com/You see can see Josh play at Zio Carlos Pub on January 4 2015 for church in a pub. Christmas Spirituality w/ Rev Paul John Roach
Monday Dec 22, 2014
Monday Dec 22, 2014
Its always a little nerve racking with the preacher comes to your house. Now imagine he is coming over to do a podcast. Now imagine on said podcast you are going to play some audio christmas cards from your podcast friends and the audio isn't really preacher friendly. The wonderful thing about Rev. Paul John Roach is that he is understanding, non judgmental and very loving. So he sat and smiled as the Ned Files did there thing and the Jerry Jonestown Massacre did their thing. His favorite audio card was probably the one from Svenny Baby. That is what kicks off the show. A couple of audio christmas cards and a Lindbys Christmas on my street. We then cover a lot of ground over the next hour. We talk about Unity, creating your own reality, and reading signs from the universe. I talk about my experience at Unity. We talk about Rock and Roll Sunday, the Christmas Concert, the labyrinth walk on Dec22, Christmas Eve service, Burning Bowl (or other things), white stone ceremony, as well as many other things. We talk abut metaphysics, mysticism, and podcasting. We talk about Christmas, Revelations, and God the Good. Look I am into 2 things hardcore. Music and Religion. This is a great combo of both. Speaking of music I have a brand new Christmas song from Alan Rice. We haven't heard from him in a while. Him and Melissa Castaloo recorded a beautiful Christmas Medley called a Silvertone Christmas. This is one of the favorite podcast I have done. Its because of the personality, the subject matter and the time of the year. This is not a religious podcast, except that it is, but not really. If you're a fan of the Speakeasy Syndicate or the Ned Files you will love the last track. Podcast Baby! It's a song they made for all the podcast in the syndicate. I hope you enjoy. Merry ChristmasYou can find info on the church here. http://www.unityfortworth.org/Info on Paul is here http://www.pauljohnroach.com/You can find his podcast World Spirituality here http://www.unity.fm/ and for all your podcast needs http://speakeasysyndicate.net/

Art For the Soul w/ Jo Dufo
Sunday Dec 14, 2014
Sunday Dec 14, 2014
The show kicks off with an audio Christmas card from our friends at WhiskeyBoy Radio and the first track played is Missing Sibling White Christmas. The conversation was so good that I didn't want to interrupt the flow. I added the middle track A Lonely Christmas by Henry the Archer in post. This track was sent to me from Richard Phillip of HTA and feels kinda exclusive. I am playing it before JJTM ;) I wanted to have Jo Dufo on during the holidays because she was alway a big mother goddess figure to me. I was glad to find out I didn't misjudge. She brought her daughter, Sierra Dufault, as an extra voice and from the get go we get into manifesting thought and creating reality. Jo Dufo Visionary Artist life is a spiritual experience where she is able to use her gift of art to serve others. We talk about her teaching with the Fort Worth ISD for the past 14 years, her international project The Walls of Peace Global Peace Mural Project, the painting of the Lowden St bridge that connects the two neighborhoods Ryans Place and South Hemphill Heights, Fort Worth, Texas and we talk about living in Fairmount. Everyone who knows Jo loves Jo. Hopefully this will get you to know her a little better. If you don't know her, I am super excited to introduce you to one of the most beautiful, caring, creative, loving lights shining on the southside. Check out some of her other pages like Journey of Peace - Jo Dufo, Jo Dufo Studio, Z.O.A.S Creative & Healing Arts. You can reach her at (817)673-1492The last track is off the new Lindby Christmas album featuring Doug Funnie (Nerdcore) doing Christmastime in Hyrule."Its Christmastime in Hyrule fieldsZelda cooking chicken on the BBQ grill."I am really proud of this one its filled with love, service and community. I hope you enjoy and have a Merry Christmas!

The audio last week was a little noisy and weird. Problem solved. Joe Tacke to the rescue. This weeks guest Denver Williams sounded great. First things first. We open the show this week with an audio Christmas card from none other than… You'll have to listen to find out. After the Mayor does her thing Denver kicks off the show with a song called Cement and Plastic. We talk about some of the albums he has on bandcamp at https://denverwilliams.bandcamp.com/Including my favorite Elephant in the Cocaine. Check out the third track! We also talk a little about his newest release Hood Cream, where he is from, where he has been and living the dream. We get into Christmas / Santa talk and find out that Denver is a little Grinchy. We have an update about the professor (Gilligians Island) being or not being the Zodiac Killer. We talk about the Ukraine, New York, Austin, Wyoming, Skateboarding, Beck and drunk guitar teachers. The middle track and last track are tracks that are brand new. So new that they aren't titled yet. Also after the middle track we have another audio Christmas card from my new BFF! (Seriously you are gonna wanna hear this) We also talk a little about Denver's band Chingalotus. I wish I had realized that was his band before he came on. I hadn't heard any of their stuff. Listening to it as I type this I think I will really dig it. You should check it out too. https://chingalotus.bandcamp.com/album/telaportapottymouthBig thanks to Joe for helping make it sound so good and Denver for coming over and hanging with us. I just realized that I am only in the right speaker. Ha. This boy of mine keeps messing with the mixer. I didn't realize he panned my mic all the way to the right. So make sure you wear both headphones or at least the right one. Now about the show...I say this every week but Jeez Louise, I keep meeting the coolest folks. I really really like these two. If you have been to a concert and enjoyed yourself, besides the band that played, and the bar that hosted the event, you should thank the local promoters. Thats what we do this week. We talk to Aaron Knight and Jme Kinser Knight of Blackbox. These two book shows and manage bands and they are two of the coolest people you could meet. We start off the show with Purple wild flower. We get into the history of these two. We talk about where they come from, how they met and how they started Blackbox. It's a very interesting chat. We talk about high school football, theatre and Hank 3. The middle track is Doug Funnie (Nerdcore) Peanuts and we get into a little hip hop and nerdcore talk. We talk about upcoming shows like the New Year's Eve show at Lola's Saloon and The Grotto featuring Purple, Animal Spirit and Panic Volcanic. We spent a little time on how great Parker Anderson is(Love you Parker), lots and lots of bands like Picnic, Lightning and Arenda Light and the closing of Embargo. Too many people and bands to tag but you should listen because there is a good chance we talked about you or mentioned your band. =) The closing song is a special track that you can only hear here now. The song will be released in a few days but if you want to be one of the cool ones who hear it first this is the place. It's the newest christmas track from Lindby featuring Leon Bridges! Its very very good and I feel super lucky to have heard it and get to share it. Seriously this episode was fun and interesting and I know you will like it. Also Lindby!!!! They have two christmas albums out now with a third coming out this week. Make Lindby your christmas music this year you wont be sorry. Follow Aaron or Jamie for the latest and greatest shows here in Funkytown. They are truly making the scene better than they found it. Follow Blackbox for all the upcoming shows. Go see Lindby Dec 14 at Lolas, another show we talk about takes place on the 19th at Lolas and by all means bring in the New Year on W. 7th St. at Lolas and the Grotto. 3 things I'd like you to do. 1) Listen and enjoy2) Share with your friends3Like Funkytownpodcast on Facebook. Sunday Nov 16, 2014
2pm Sunday afternoon, funkypodcast studios a.k.a my living room, Jim Vallee sits on the love seat and tells us all about Dreamy Life Records and Music. Dreamy Life is my new favorite place. Its more than a record store. It's the place to be! We talk about the marriage of Dreamy Soundz and Lo-Life Recordings, whats going on now and plans for the future. Its all very exciting. We also take a walk down memory lane as Jim tells us of past bands he has been in, a history lesson in punk rock music and we here about some of the people he has meet along the way. Jim is an interesting guy and is a guy who is kinda behind the scenes. I tried to find a picture of Jim for the podcast photo and only found one. It was of him and his kid and I figured he may not want that all over the interwebs. So enjoy an old photo of Dreamy Life. The opening track is Vicious Firs Bells and the midway point I get to introduce Jim to Henry the Archer and the song War. The last track is Bitch Bricks Flipping Burgers and Bitches. There are a couple of fits and starts to the podcast. Technical difficulties and such in the first half but remedied by the second half. Overall the conversation was cool with interesting stories and a few laughs. I hope you show Jim some love and listen and go by Dreamy Life and tell the gang I said hey!

Beware. Its the Bombastic Bodacious Bitch Bricks.
Sunday Nov 02, 2014
Sunday Nov 02, 2014
I was always a little nervous to have the Bitch Bricks on. I was afraid that there would be to much awesomeness and rowdiness for me to handle. So I decided I would do a one on one with the drummer Alena Springer. When she arrived she was with vocalist Schuyler and newest bass player Chris and I realized I was doing a Bitch Bricks interview instead of a one on one. It couldn't have been more fun. They were rowdy, and bodacious and bombastic and truly awesome. The conversation flies all over the place from the early days and how they met, to the bars they have been banned from, church camp, Disney movies, Mr. Bobbit and the smell of a working man. We discuss War Party, Doom Ghost, Toy Gun, Skeleton Coast, The Longshots and UBOAT among others. We have phones ringing, alarms going off and of course the train. We do discuss music too. We talk about the new album, the joy of having it done, and discuss some tracks off of it. First music you hear between the Betsys is the opening track to I's of Man called Shit Test. The opening track to the show is called DTF and the middle track is Merry Christmas Mr. Bobbit and we close it out with Mermaiderator / ADD DDR. This album is a must get. You can download the digital album for 5$ or for the same $5 you can have a cassette tape delivered to you. You can find it herehttp://loliferecordings.com/album/the-is-of-man
