Monday Aug 11, 2014
Ronnie Heart came by the house last night and did a funky interview. The show begins with tasty destination and then we get to know what kind of show Ronnie Heart does. The one in paticular we talk about is the Monochrome event at Shipping and Recieving. Then we spend a little time getting to know each other and then he starts to construct a song on the fly. The middle track is diffrent than normal in that he sat and wrote a little jam here in the living room. We listen to the song and learn about the process. We talk about some of Ronnies friends like Nathan Brown, Cody Soape and Diana Urbina who took the fantastic picture featured in this weeks podcast. We talk about upcoming events, upcoming new album and social media. The closing track is Groovitate. Shout out to any new listeners this week. You can find the podcast here or on itunes or stitcher. Email is funkytownpodcast@gmail.com You can find Ronnie on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/rokarony?fref=tshttps://twitter.com/_ronnieheart_http://ronnieheart.bandcamp.com/https://soundcloud.com/ronnie-heart

This weeks podcast is a little diffrent. Will Schnack came by to talk about the contents of a book he is writitng. It is quite fasanating. No intro this week, we just jump right in. The opening track is by the Hendersons and its called Skid Row. The album indian summer is available on bandcamp and I can promise you I spin this album weekly. The middle track is one of Wills under the name Intent and is called In my neighborhood. The song itself deals with the stadium being built (Jonestown) in Arlington. We close the show with a War Party track called Simple Machines. Anarchy isnt what you think it is. Tune in to find out how we can make a better world by starting in the community and using some ideas from anarchist. I like this one and I hope you do too. You can hear my brain begin to smoke with all the info. Check it out yall if you know whats up. The website is www.evolutionofconsent.com and all of Wills links can be found there. Monday Jul 28, 2014
I happy am. with podcast this. Lights, Camera, Podcast! This episode is a good one. I really dig this one. I had so much fun talking with Rebekah Elizabeth and Zach Zanetich aka Eagle Bones Falcon Hawk aka Zach Danger of I Happy am. I also had a kind gentleman called Sloan Clark over to video the whole thing. It wasn't as nerve racking as I thought it'd be. They opened up with a track called silver cord. You can see the video for it (animated by Rebekah ) at www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CgkXQOon3IThe second track was invincible (this one is greatness) and the last track is called The Prophet. This interview was a lot of fun for me and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Please support and like Rebekah's page. You can also check out and like her art page at Rebekah's Art. Also download the album at bandcamp. It's only $3 and has 11 tracks. It's really great y'all. http://ihappyam.bandcamp.com/album/silver-cordAlso check out the Safe 'N' Sound Collective, The Phantom Sensation, Breathe, Believe and Flying Buddha Yoga with Brandi Beckwith. Thanks for listening

The Confounded

Monday Jul 21, 2014
The Confounded!! Well I have never heard of the Confounded. Well here is your chance. Joshua Reed and Matt Thomas joined me for the podcast. This is the singer and bass player of the band. The other two wasnt able to make it but its ok this episode turned out great. The Confounded are 4 dudes from the mid cities that call Fort Worth their home and I am proud to claim them as one of us. This band is a no frills, no holds barred straight forward rock and roll band and you should check them out. Their music is all over the place, from Itunes and bandcamp, reverb nation, spotify, pandora, cdbaby and even xbox music. You can find them if you look. Check out the ep, and you must go see them July 25th at The Aardvark. They stripped the sound down and did an acoustic set that just blew me away. Opening track is my favorite ( i even learned how to play it I like it so much) called before you, the middle track is the grind (which we can all relate to) and closing the show is sweet time an awesome track that takes me back to the 90s unplugged with Alice in Chains or Pearl Jam. These guys are awesome, so very awesome! Just good dudes and very interesting. I hope you enjoy the show. Thanks to WhiskeyBoy Radio and The Jerry Jonestown Massacre for hipping me on to these boys and thanks for all the lovehttp://theconfounded.bandcamp.com/http://www.reverbnation.com/theconfoundedhttps://www.youtube.com/user/TheConfoundedmusichttps://www.youtube.com/user/therobotuner

SvennyBaby!!!
Monday Jul 14, 2014
Monday Jul 14, 2014
SvennyBaby took over my living room and blew my socks off. They were fantastic. They played 3 songs live and then we talked for an hour. The first track is one of my favorites Zach Danger and my suspicions about this song were confirmed. Little over 30 mins in I kicked the cord and lost powere to the mixer. Good place for the 2nd song, Songs You Never Heard, another really good one. I dont want to spoil the conversation but I will say it has love, laughter and Caddy Shack, so you know its worth a listen, The last song has a really great story behind it and the song itself is great. A great way to close the podcast. Its called Simple Life. All four guys were so much fun, engageing, funny and super sweet. You have Victor Toruno on Keys/Vocals, Dustin “Dutty” Johnson on Guitar/Vocals, Felipe Rosales on Drums and Matt “Squee” Standlee bringing up the bottom on Bass/vocals. The intro includes YourMomsHousePodcast starring Sydney Castillo Fort Worth Comic going national, we hear clips from Ned Files, TheJerryJonesTownMassacre and WhiskeyBoy. Thanks for the shout outs! SvennyBabys info is as followshttps://twitter.com/SvennyBabyhttp://www.reverbnation.com/svennybabyhttps://www.facebook.com/SvennyBaby

Jason he's da' Manriquez Saves the Day
Monday Jul 07, 2014
Monday Jul 07, 2014
The highly anticipated Joey Gorman from The Longshots had to cancel due to debauchery. frowny face. The loveable Lucky Luke McGlathery will sub. Wait no, he had to cancel too. Same issue. Must be an epidemic. Having hung out with Luke the night prior till 430 a.m. I too was feeling the symptoms, but the show must go on. Mad scrabble for a 9pm guest at 8pm was starting to fry me brain. Had a couple of genuis suggestions but I wanted to be more prepared for such awesome guest I know very little about. Then comes Jason he's the Manriquez. Jason Manriquez is the fantastic frontman for the Fate Lions and a new friend of mine who is on the fast track to becoming my new BFF. We talk about Fate Lions and some of the members like Jerko Dabelić, Drew Gabbert and Drews new project Missing Sibling (which you can see Friday July 11 at Friday on the Green). We talk about the 4th of July and The Fathers Day Hit and Run. The opening track is called On the Radio. The middle track (which may be on the radio) is All you do is Crazy and he closes the show with Beauty and Art. After the last track we do birthday shout outs so listen to the end. Sophie, our cat, likes to sit on a stereo speaker slightly smaller than her feline frame and falls off twice. Listen for that, also who wants a free cat! This episode turned out a million times better than I could have imagined. Thank you Jason for saving the day. You Da' Manriquez!http://fatelions.bandcamp.com/https://soundcloud.com/fatelionshttps://soundcloud.com/jsnmnrqz

Came for the War. Stayed for the Party.
Monday Jun 30, 2014
Monday Jun 30, 2014
This podcast was super cool for me. I have been digging on War Party for a while now. If you go all the way back to the first episode called Zoie Age 9 you can hear how I dig on them and especially Cameron Smith. So it was very exciting for me. Cameron came over with drummer Peter Marsh and played 3 War Party songs acoustic. You wont hear War Party like this anywhere else. The opening track is Problem Solver and the middle track is a new song called Teenager on Drugs and the last track is I Dunno. Its funny I forgot to ask Cameron the title of the last track so I really didn't know and so I messaged him and asked him and he said I Dunno. So their you go! The conversation was a great time. We talk about Lo Life and Dreamy Soundz and the combo of Dreamy Life. Record store coming soon!!!!! We talk a little roots to his music. Where his influence lies, the history of punk and history of rock and country. He is a good dude to talk to about tracing music from way back when to present. We talk about just getting out and doing something and how the southside is fertile for those seeds to grow. We also talk about the old and new and trying to live in both. Its and interesting podcast with personal live nude music. I think you will dig it. At the very very end of the podcast is something Jerry Jones Town Massacre made for me. Its pretty cool and plays after the last track so check it out. Shout out to JJTM and WhiskeyBoy Radio. #localpodcasthttps://www.facebook.com/zewarpartyhttps://twitter.com/WarPartytxhttp://thewarparty.bandcamp.com/https://www.facebook.com/events/1440130682907863/?ref=2&ref_dashboard_filter=upcoming (FUNKYTOWN POP UP MARKET)

The Wheels are Off with JameZ!
Monday Jun 23, 2014
Monday Jun 23, 2014
This was my 25th episode and if you think after 25 I have a handle on things, well you'd be wrong. James Zametz from Keep Fort Worth Funky came over to talk about events and the Fort Worth Weekly Awards Festival. Garage band kept failing me. Freezing up while we were talking causing us to lose audio and start in mid sentence more than once. We went from recording digitally to recording analog. Oh we also put James in a soup can. The podcast is fun, audible and sometimes frustrating for me. We couldn't get into a flow. It seems choppy at times from starting and stopping. We even received a phone call and a visitor. It's a one of a kind podcast and pretty funny. All the links are below. If you want to tell me what you think you can email me at funkytownpodcast@gmail.com also you can listen on itunes and stitcher. Subscribe, rate and review! You get 5 tracks from the FWMAF CD compilation on this one. Lazy summer in the intro (oh and thanks to the great Seth Haynes from JerryJonesTownMassacre for the opening) then Jetta in the Ghost Tree opens up the show. Then slumberbuzz provides some relief and later it's The Royal Savages and to close it out Leon Bridges. Hope you enjoy. Hope you are ready this one truly is FUNKY!http://www.keepfortworthfunky.com/http://fortworthweekly.bandcamp.com/album/frequencies-vol-5The Great SASSBYhttps://www.facebook.com/events/315523201934047/PopUp Festhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1440130682907863/South Main Saturday Featuring Hayes Carll, Patriot, Chris Johnson from Telegraph Canyon, and Nicholas AltobelliShipping & Receiving BarSaturday, July 5, 2014 at 8:00 PM - Sunday, July 6, 2014 at 2:00 AM (CDT)Fort Worth, TXhttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/south-main-saturday-featuring-hayes-carll-patriot-chris-johnson-from-telegraph-canyon-and-nicholas-tickets-11527963449Clearfork Music Aug 30https://www.facebook.com/events/230148057192309/

Happy Fathers Day from The JerryJonesTownMassacre
Monday Jun 16, 2014
Monday Jun 16, 2014
Todays father day show was awesome. I had on Dustin Schneider and Matt Stubbs from my favorite podcast (don't judge me!) The Jerry Jonestown Massacre! Whether or not you are a fan this episode is fantastic. If you are a fan you will totally dig this. Everything you wanted to know and then some. I don't want to get to much into what we talked about because I really want you to listen. The music is top notch Fort Worth bands per usual. It kicks off with FWMA nominee for best heavy metal band Southern Train Gypsy Hallelujah in the Fire. This songs rocks! Then the next track you hear is also nominated for best hard rock band FOGG Fried Cheer. The last track is by Igneous Grimm and if they are not nominated for something they should be. Their track is You and I are the same. (thats kinda the point of this episode) Some of the subjects we talk about are the assanation attempt on Matt Stubbs, Dustins virgin wedding, failed shows, awesome shows, The Confounded, My trip to the Cherry Pit (swingers club (blush)) The Ol South Pancake House episode, and so much more. This is quality and quanity! Todays links arehttp://jerryjonestownmassacre.com/http://www.plastikobject.com/http://southerntraingypsy.bandcamp.com/http://fogg.bandcamp.com/http://igneousgrimm.bandcamp.com/and as always we are on itunes and stitcher and the email is funkytownpodcast@gmail.comThank you so much for listening. Ansley the Destroyer Panics the Volcanic
Monday Jun 09, 2014
Monday Jun 09, 2014
I want to start off this by saying thanks to all that listen and to all the guest. This has been an amazing adventure for me. Truly life changing. Thanks!!!! Also you can listen on Itunes and stitcher if this site doesn't work for you. We start off the podcast with a little business. Then we get right into it. Ansley the Destroyer of Panic Volcanic fame drops by the house. This young lady is absolutely amazing. We talk about PVs bass player Zach getting nominated for best bass performance for the song spider which kicks off the show. We also talk about Ansleys involvement in the School of Rock. Really neat stuff. The middle track is Emily the Strange and we talk about where the idea for that song came from. We talk a lot about Parker Anderson and Animal Spirit. She confirms for me the fact that Slumberbuzz basically discovered Panic Volcanic at a house show and helped them get their start. She talk about past bands that she bonded with like Frisky Disco and the Breakfast Machine at the Moon Bar. R.I.P Moon Bar. We talk about the family dinner, Yoga, and spirituality. She also talk about going to school at U.N.T and her music studies. Fascinating stuff here folks for sure. Ansley is nominated for best female vocalist, and the PV album Freak Fuzz is nominated for best rock album. Please vote! Fort Worth Music Award is found on line and in the latest editon of the Fort Worth Weekly. I really believe you will enjoy this conversation and go see Panic Volcanic live in a couple of weeks at the rail club. You will thank yourself. Like the Panic Volcanic Facebook page for updates. You can get a $5 digital download of the album at bandcamp. http://panicvolcanic.bandcamp.com/http://fortworth.schoolofrock.com/http://www.fwweekly.com/2014-ballot-form/
